Retail business branding failure

branding-failCheck out the stationery business I saw in Auckland a couple of weeks ago – click on the picture. There was no stationery in this shop even though it is called Uptown Stationers. It was all tobacco, drinks, international phone calling cards and junk.

This shop gives stationers a bad name.

Well the sign on the window does say ” sale Clearance” so I guess they cleared all the stationary.

That wire covering the window and the three security signs look incredibly inviting :-S

… and the EFTPOS sign may be a bit outdated.

What about it could be a New business taking over an old Business and they haven’t changed the sign yet? I have seen many shops like this where an old Business sign is still there and the current shop is completely different to what the shop used to be. And this shop looks old.

The sign is actually new. Less than 18 months old.

The old one called the business “Uptown Bookstore and Tobacconists” and was a lovely shade of baby-shit yellow.

Yes, I’ve seen this Uptown Stationers sign several times over the last year.
