We are promoting the Your Model Railway Village partwork launch in our partworks section as well as with train magazines – leveraging the TV campaign on air right now. Partworks do well for us – they currently account for 16.75% of magazine sales.
Partworks are important for newsagents because they are a habit based product and because partworks shoppers have one of the best spending profiles of a destination shopper in a newsagency.
While there are occasional supply challenges, my most recent experience is nothing but positive.
It’s a shame newsagents are so poorly treated by partworks companies. It’s a shame partworks companies try so hard to draw newsagency customers away from the newsagency. Today’s Marvel Chess Set partworks, for example, offers my customers a free chess board (plus other gifts) to bypass my shop and subscribe direct. If the cutomer prefers to support their newsagent, they’ll have to collect 12 tokens, pay $59.99 and post away for the chess board.
Before providing premium retail space to bulky partworks, newsagents should familiarise themselves with offers made by partworks companies to entice newsagency customers away from the newsagency. The benefits of partworks shouldn’t be ignored but we deserve better treatment, and so do our loyal customers.
Cameron a while back I accepted that I cannot change the behaviour of artworks companies and so decided to focus on how to make them work for me.

can anyone tell me if they are getting extra stock that they do not sell of these , it is pissing me off that I cannot get a standing order of 3 I have been trying now for 11 issues and each time I call up they say it is set for the next issue which never happens ..
