Today we are promoting The Saturday Paper on the lease line, facing into the mall along with the Herald Sun, the new Doctor Who partworks and the latest Better Homes and Gardens.
I setup the display to leverage interest in the Robin Williams story in The Saturday Paper. It’s a different take on a major story. I figured the poster is what would attract people. I then selected other products for the stand based on what a Saturday shopper could purchase.
This is not a permanent front of store display – just for this weekend. We change the front of our newsagency weekly.
I have several discussions with IPS management in relation to a delivery fee of 10c per paper. I informed IPS management that our business runs off a 20c delivery fee base to deliver papers.I was told from IPS management that THEIR business could not afford a 20c delivery fee. I told IPS management that OUR business could not afford a 10c delivery fee. Next week we didn’t receive any Saturday Papers. Rang IPS and was told your allocation was ZERO but I will put you back in. For the last 2 weeks I have returned e-mails that explain to us that ‘you have missed your subscriptions’ explaining that I am not throwing papers with a delivery fee of 10c. I have 3 Saturday Paper customers that I throw to each week that have no problem with a 20c delivery fee. I have rung each of The Saturday Paper subscribers to explain to them that my business cannot afford to to deliver their paper for 10c. They understand that newsagents should be delivering papers for more than 10c. Each customer has received an e-mail explaining that everything has been sorted out’ with your newsagent’ – not one phone call, e-mail from IPS management to us since our last conversation with IPS management. The IPS ‘phone call’ process will commence again tomorrow.
