Why is Tatts promoting the $25M OzLotto jackpot at 6:17pm?

I just saw an ad on TV for the OzLotto $25 million jackpot just now, at 6:17PM. Given that most retailers would be closed by now, why is Tatts paying to be on TV. The cynic in me wonders if this ad buy, if specifically selected by the company, is about growing line and mobile purchases.

Right on Mark, in SA all the BP service stations are now called ON THE RUN AND THEY HAVE LOTTERIES AND ARE OPEN 24/7.
No question about them being a great add on for Lotteries product to be sold all day and all night.
We have one near us and it is disturbing how many people are bringing in their lotto tickets with an ON THE RUN logo at the POS.
We are asked all the time to use credit cards for Lotteries now because last July our lottery product all went online and that’s how people pay online so suddenly we were allowed (after 39 years of it being a total taboo) to sell product on credit – purely to accommodate online betting.
I agree with Mark that we have to diversify, diversify and diversify to remain relevant.

ps. I’m sure that the ON THE RUN experiment in SA will be very successful and rolled out nationally over time (a short time I bet).
It is disappointing to have customers who have always purchased from us now buying from a SS because it is convenient, or it is near their retirement village which used to be serviced by us but we are not now as close as the OTR.
They are so well known here that we all know them by OTR.
