A balanced approach to charging for copying services in the newsagency

I am often asked what we charge for copying and other services. Click on the image to see our current price list. We balance this with free copying of resumes for unemployed people and significantly discounted copying for local charities. Our prices show we are not chasing business – that is a conscious decision by us.

We are replacing our space where the copier is with a new range of gifts. In our store we found that the time spent helping customers with the copier (mainly older residents in our town) was not profitable. Average time spent between 2-5 minutes for 1 or 2 30c copies and staff member cost is 50c a minute. It will be a relief to get rid of it as the majority of people who used it were (how shall I say it) frugal and difficult!

It works for us as the copier is in a location that is not shopper friendly. Also, the copier is our only in-store printer.
