Lotterywest: rewards for growth

I like the Rewards For Growth initiative from Lotterywest. It focuses retailers on the key goal: sales growth. The pitch in their latest retailer email is simple and to the point:

Next week you’ll find out if you’re one of 129 retailers sharing in over $75,000 for achieving your sales target for the first quarter this financial year.

You’ll also find out what your NMS% target is for this quarter.

Stay tuned for exciting news on how you can earn rewards for increasing your Scratch’n’Win sales in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Focussing on sales targets at the supplier, retailer and store level employee level is more important than busy work that tatts focusses on through their stress inducing compliance program.

Personally i do not feel i need an incentive to try and increase sales in my business, i would in fact even argue that the funds on offer in the incentive offered should be used towards marketing materials we could use to increase our sales further… It is the type of decision between which that makes me happy.

Dealing with Tatt’s on the other hand, it is constant fear of a surveyor. Constant shaking of my head in disappointment over their latest move that hurts us in some way. It is the lack of support like the email that still has not been responded to by my rep from last month and the sheer disregard for our ability to run successful businesses that makes me actually want to go and sabotage that side of my business. Great incentive work.

Maybe that is their plan, if i do sabotage my business i am sure their online presence will be happy to pick up my sales.

Michael I agree with your comments re Tatts. We can only hope that once Tabcorp management is deeper in the business focus will change.

I get your point about the Lotterywest incentive. It’s different to the Tatts approach and I thought that was useful in noticing.

Must be a good feeling having an organization who is wanting to encourage its retailers….

Is it just me, or is there a disproportionate number of first division lottery wins going to on line purchases.

As I understand it, on line now accounts for 17% of ticket sales, but it seems a much bigger portion of first division winners are coming from on line including the recent record mid week jackpot prizes.

And then on the weekend, 3 out of 4 first divisions are internet tickets.

    I smell a rat.

At 17% on line and growing that means about 1 in 5 wins will be from on line.

Im happy to go with 1 in 6.

3 out of 4 is out of kilter and I’ll keep the stats from here on in to comfort myself and if Im not mistaken one of the 2 winners in the 100M Powerball was off the net and the winner of the 80M Oz. Someone will correct me on those.
