Terrific email from Lotterywest

Lotterywest retailers received an email from the company that included this:

Your first $10,000 payment
Yesterday you received the first $10,000 monthly payment as part of the COVID-19 Retailer Incentive Package. This amount was credited into your nominated bank account and will be reflected on your Recipient Created Tax Invoice (RCTI) week ending Monday 6 April.

What a terrific start to Easter. Well done Lotterywest.

    Where is Tatts and Tabcorp???

All their communication is advising about how its “business as usual”

If you are a Lotteries retailer in a shopping centre, right now you’re facing a catastrophic collapse in turnover (if you’re still bothering to stay open) and a prolonged battle with your landlord over how to deal with rent and lease terms. Its difficult to see how some of those get through to the other side.

I know the same is true for many Franchise operators, but Tatts lack of compassion or proactive franchisee management is astounding.

Well done Lotteries West for getting on the front foot and acting to preserve your retailer network.

James given the people they have cut and pushed on to leave, I suspect there will be little capacity or appetite within the business to provide financial help to their retailers.

The message for state governments is there can be value in being the lottery operator.
