Conics were an awesome magazine segment back in the day, a perfect habit based product that brought shoppers back and back. While we still have some comics today, sadly, not enough for what remains a passion for plenty. Check out this as from years ago:

How did that happen! I remember sell the first issue when I worked for WH Smith at their Newbury branch.
You’re right about habit. Throughout much of the 1980s I had 2000ad on standing order at my local newsagent, a weekly sale for those guys over about five years.
