Three magazines for the price of two

This limited time offer from Supanews is now six weeks old. It’s being promoted near our new newsagency in Frankston.

It’s a free country and they can do anything they want. My concern is that they are significantly diluting the value of a category on which newsagents rely and I felt it worthy of coverage here.

On a personal level, they are permitted to promote this near my newsagency but I would not be permitted to promote my newsagency near theirs. Sure, this is a landlord issue, but it is worth noting nevertheless.

OK. Why aren’t you allowed to promote yours near theirs?

    Landlord rules, unfortunately.

    Mark,

What are the terms and conditions of the offer?

If all 3 magazines were of the same value, wouldn’t the offer be loss making? The free magazine would have to retail at 2/3 of the cost of the average of the first two just to cover costs.

I doubt that landlord rules would prohibit you from advertising near there store! Maybe your just not trying hard enough with the landlords.

I just think this is petty jealousy … it is all fine and well for you to introduce loyalty cards. Does this not have a similar effect.

Worry about your business let them worry about theres.

Matt go back to my post – I’m not jealous.

The 3 for 2 deal is poor business in my view but they’re welcome to try what they like.

On the landlord point, thanks for the judgment.
