Ben 10 partwork series in newsagents now

fhn_ben10_jul27.JPGThe Ben 10 partwork series launched yesterday is an excellent opportunity for us to appeal to a young demographic. The popular Ben 10 character is well known here.  Newsagents should take a moment and research Ben 10 online – the more we understand the appeal the better equipped we will be to promote the partwork. The partwork series includes new missions, comic strips and character fact files  – we certainly need to understand what all this means.

What is most interesting about the Ben 10 series is that it includes a unique trading card collection. This is more than a usual partwork.

The key to success with Ben 10 is to get customers to commit to a putaway – paid for in advance for at least three or more issues.

The key to failure of achieving the full potential is inadequate scale out management from issue 1 through to at least issue 6.

My 5 year old grandson is over Ben 10. Often these things come out just a little too late, to have the full impact. Ben 10 was last years Xmas present.

Well i just lost another customer to subscription i am getting a bit pissed at setting up these customers for these partworks only to loose the to subscription .We should be paid a fee for setting up these customers for them .Life is great being a stepping stone…

I agree with Danny. I would have really been impressed with Ben 10 about 12 months ago but am not sure it is worth the $$$ as it is a 60 part series and it is yesterday’s news with the kids.

Brett i definantly agree that it is a great seller but it is the whole stepping stone effect i don’t like , out of those 52 sold how many would continue with you and how many would go direct and get a better deal delivered straight to there door .

Guys look at the glass half full. If you have 52 sales of this items take the money and bank it. If you can’t get them as a regular move to the next item. This is a good partwork. Ben 10 is still gaining new interest. Your grandson may be over it but that market research is a little skinny. Both hannah and Ben 10 have sold well. If I can get 10 -20 putaways than great. If I loose some to subs then I will live and move on.

Traditionally, the suppliers send us heaps for the first 4 parts then consistently undersupply for the reminder of the series, even after getting ‘make order’ requests from us. The customers then get on the backorder roundabout, that lasts for about 12-18 months, them they get angry then they cancel supply.

If the distributors could maintain a supply flow that matches our needs then we all do very well.

My focus with partworks is the traffic we get thanks to TV advertising for early parts in a series. Sure I lose some to subscriptions but I don’t think it is that many. Focus on the extra traffic and make it work for you.
