Inserted in the front of the 2010 Notebook diary is a subscription flyer. Subscribe and save 28% on a 1 year subscription to Notebook magazine it proclaims. Publishers do this all the time and I usually let it slide. Using a low margin diary supplied on mediocre terms this is poor form by the published against newsagents. The flyers in the Notebook diaries in my newsagencies have slipped out.
Our channel is a valuable resource. Suppliers ought to respect this in their actions.
i took all the subcription forms out of the diaries.

Again, until ALL newsagents take a unified stand against this type of behaviour by our so called ‘industry partners’; nothing will change. We will be continue to be raped and pillaged by suppliers until we get out crap together!
I for one will be early returning the stock and i would urge ALL other newsagents to do the same.
A clear message needs to be sent.

Has anyone else emailed their objections to the offending publishers?

Better still, has anyone received a reply?

if subscription gave 48% margin, it would be better for us to subcribe and sell them instead buying from acp?

That’s what I’m thinking Eric. If we know what we will definitely sell.
