Magazine delays in NSW

I am hearing about delays in magazines reaching some locations in NSW today.  the enwsagents affected say it’s not a good sign on the the move from First Fleet to Toll.  Newsagents need magazines on time – for most this is before 5am.  Late delivery means lost sales.

Fairfax moved their operations to Toll earlier this year in Queensland – I now get these papers at 7am on a good day. This is unacceptable!

Its going to be an interesting week just received this email from NDD

    Delivery Delay

Please be advised that we are experiencing delays for this week’s magazine deliveries.

Magazines will NOT be delivered tomorrow, 7th October but will instead be delivered by 14th October at the latest (or an earlier next available on-sale date).

Please do not report any shortages until then.

Thank you for your patience and understanding

I predict newsagents in Sydney will find they are experiencing similar problems with News Ltd products as from tomorrow. The majority of longer term distribution contractors have lost their runs in favour of Toll and a few other courier companies. The truck drivers have told me that they were offered subbie positions with Toll of approx $20 an hour to cover both their wages and running costs of paper truck, so one can only imagine the level of service that will be provided. Will be fun trying to sell Tuesday’s tele when it arrives on the following Saturday…
