Australia Post lets shoppers and tenants down

While I should be pleased that a competitor has been closed for four days, I am not.  Tenants in shopping centres rely on each other to do their bit draw traffic to their part of the centre.  The government owned Australia Post outlet opposite one of my newsagencies has  been closed since Christmas Eve.  This hurts our traffic.  It also makes shoppers angry and some take this out on nearby shops they visit.

If Australia Post sees itself as a mainstream retailer (and not a public service) it ought to start acting like one.

I was talking today to the bloke in the franchise PO that we use for business postings. He tells me that all Govt. owned POs will be closed on Thursday, (NYE) because apparently there will be no mail deliveries to those POs on the day, and hence there is no need for them to be open. Shame about the retail customer who needs to buy a post pack to send some mail.
Ohh well, never mind, just wait till Momday.

The franchised PO outlets MUST open, or breach their contract.
    Bloody disgraceful.
