How sick is the magazine distribution model!

increased_supply.JPGI have two examples of a sick magazine distribution model.  They illustrate why newsagents get frustrated, especially when distributors chase newsagents for money yet they refuse to fix fundamental problems with contribute to cash flow challenges.  Healthy Food was increased last month because of a special offer.  It sold well.  This month we were cut to a point where we will sell out if we achieve average sales.  Ironman magazine, on the other hand, has been increased without any justification.

Guys, give me more of what I have shown I can sell and less of what I have shown I cannot sell.  It makes sense if you think about it.

What is the purpose of sending data to them via XChangeIT if they are not using it?? Perhaps it’s not the supply data they are after.

It also cuts both ways. They tell us that we don’t sell certain mags, so they stop or severely reduce allocations. When one asks them to go check their data again, we miraculously get supply resumed – sometimes..
I just wish they’d let us know when they do drop supply.

    G`day Mark,
the publisher/distributor must really have a push for Aust. Ironman, have a look at my figures for this mag and what we recieved this week.
    Nov sent 8 returned 7
    Dec sent 6 returned 5
    Jan sent 4 returned 3
Feb sent 9!!! can you believe 9 copies based on the previous figures? I have early returned 7 copies but still dont understand why i should have to in the 1st place. I think SICK is an understatement!!!
