Cyclone Yasi watch

The extent of the size and potential impact of Cyclone Yasi which is bearing down on far North Queensland is illustrated by a graphic published by News Limited, superimposing the cyclone and its trail on a map of the USA.

My thoughts and I am sure the thoughts of others who visit this place are with colleague newsagents and suppliers in the line of Yasi tonight and tomorrow.

What a tough start to 2011 for many!

Yes we are back after 2 days on a generator with massive headaches from working in 35+ degrees heat in the shop as the generator runs the computer, fridges and some lights. We had phone lines for a while but they cut out as well. But we can be thankful that we came through with only minor damage to the awning of the shop.

    Shaun S,
    You don’t know me.
I grew up in NQ and also worked in FNQ.( ex bank johnnie ) I’m now a newsagent in NSW. I am still trying to figure out which shop is yours. I’ve narrowed it down to a few towns.

I hope all is well up your way. Weatherzone has given Townsville a 90 % chance of rain on Thursday (20-40mm). I haven’t checked the other towns.

Max, thats probably the most stalker-ish comment I’ve ever read.

    Shaun S,
Does the street start with a T?
i did junk mail deliveries in Gulliver when I was a kid, and lived there for about 12 years.
I won’t ask for the name of the street in case Aaron thinks I am stalking you .

Lot of nervous people in the shop today, good luck to those further up the coast, I know what your going thru, just stay safe, the rest can be patched up afterwards.
