Ink Sale Drives Excellent Traffic

June 25th, 2011 · 4 Comments

ink-hero.jpgOur latest Ink Sale is driving excellent new traffic.  Ink is a terrific newsagency marketing tool – almost everyone has a printer at home and all businesses have printers.   I love it when customers bring the flyer in, telling us how our prices are better than other much bigger retailers.

I also love ink because it is an efficient category.  More than 60% of ink sales include other products.  The new traffic generated by the marketing of ink results in increased sales of other categories. This is where ink delivers a handsome payoff – not only in that sale but from the customers who return and deliver more purchases to the business. The above average margin is also welcome.

I have been writing here about our ink sales for seven years, encouraging other newsagents to get into this category as part of their newsagency marketing campaign.  I am surprised that so many newsagents still do not engage.

ink is a no brainer, small country town and i turn over in excess of $100k a year easily just in ink alone

For a no brainer I wonder how this one is supposed to know just what ones to stock as there are so many differant ones. Is there a top so many or a particular brand and who is the best supplier.

have a chat to either tonnex international or dynamic supplies. i am part of the newsink group and that works for me. i have used both tonnex and dynamic and both are very good. i easily out do the majors on pricing. remember be competitive on price, have a good range and ALWAYS have stock available, most people only look for a new cartridge when they have run out and are halfway thru a print job. Ink is the standout performer for year on year growth in my business.

I agree with Rick. Task to both those suppliers and they will be more thsn happy to assist.

Ink is just like other departments. You start off not knowing what people want but as time progresses your sales and customer requests (especially customer requests) will tell you what brands and cartridges are most popular in your area. It’s also worth noting that people change their printers more regularly now and trands in sales can change dramatically every year. Its very important to listen to customer requests as this will help give an indication of how popular new ink cartridges will be (and you could be surprised at the number of new cartridges released each year).
