The first in a new generation of uber-cheap tablets?
No Australian release date because Amazon has not yet been granted rights for books, apps etc. Interested to see how that impacts them in the Australian tablet market.

Steve,
Publishers are having to come to terms with the fact that physical borders are little barrier to the ever-increasing pool of tech savvy consumers.
One living in Australia can both order the tablet and access the newsstand with a quick Google search and very little effort.

I have never done this, but from what I have heard with iTunes if you can just get hold of a US ‘voucher’ online or from friend overseas you will have no problem getting all the content. I assume Amazon will be similar.

They are missing out big time on christmas sales.
If I remember correctly, it took a few months after the release of the first ipad before australians had access to some paid content, also because of the publication rights issue.
I don’t think many people will go to effort of buying vouchers (if it’s possible), or find a company who will ship from the USA, but I may be wrong.
The online US iTunes gift voucher market is huge! One quick search on EBay will show this. Many thousands go to the effort – which really isn’t much effort considering all you have to do it click ‘buy now’ and wait for the codes to turn up in your inbox.
Amazon is even easier – all you need to do is setup your account with a US address. You don’t even need a US credit card!

You’re making me feel old Jarryd! Seems like I’m a bit behind on this. Time to read up.

Apple still has the “name”.
