Magazines I don’t see

I was in Darwin earlier this week and saw these three magazines we don’t get in any of my newsagencies in a newsagency in decent quantities. It was a reminder of the diversity of magazines available for sale. It reminded me of the challenge we have when we want to expand range, the challenge of selecting new titles.

I get about 70 of Bacon Busters and about 20-30 each of the others.
Kids here like them more than the comic books.

Huge sellers here too with the huntin’ shootin’ fishin crowd !!! No wonder Jeff Kennet thinks newsagencies are dead – his city one doesn’t stock the stuff he wants to read ( JOKE Mark, JOKE !)
Yesterday I had a dad buy Just Trucks because his 2 yr old was babbing over it – kid is genetically addicted to trucks !!!

In Cooktown these are our biggest sellers in store and servos subagents. We sell our mens mags best in the servos. There is also a video coming out regularly on pig hunting. We have men and women waiting for the next one to arrive. We also have increaing sales of indigenouse papers.

We’re not in Queensland but we still have dedicated buyers of these 3 titles – 8-10 copies of each every month. And it brings a younger male demographic into the store. Guess which macho men turn into softies around Mothers Day, eh?

These are Sarina’s equivalent to Smith Journal and Frankie. 🙂 We sell them by the truckload (or pig crate).

The recipes for camp cooking all involve baked beans and road kill, love to see them on master chef.

Here in Goondiwindi we sell between 150 – 200 copies of Bacon Busters each issue. We also stock a heap more shooting and hunting mags/dvds. They are our biggest sellers with the male customers. Pity they didnt make more titles as i am sure they would sell as well
