Woman’s Day Tom / Katie special issue out Wednesday

ACP has announced that a special issue of Woman’s Day will be out Wednesday this week for newsagents on the Eastern Seaboard excluding Far North Queensland. This issue will have eight pages of pictures and editorial covering the divorce proceedings plus a new cover. It will have the same barcode as the current issue.

I wish you had a “don’t like” icon.
I am happy with anything that helps sell more magazines, but I don’t think this story has those sort of legs.
Having a magazine on a different day when it won’t increase sales is just a PYA.

Ricky publishers don’t do special issues lightly. Given the model they have more to lose on this than us. In my stores we will be going all out to promote this special.

Mark this may be overkill by WD. You know certain people on covers can kill a mags sales. From previous mags Tom Cruise is one of those celebs in our agency.
When was the publisher going to let us know they where doing this and are they expecting us to sell both issues?

Excluding far north QLD…….so those of us north of Caboolture (virtually a suburb of Brisbane) will not be getting any…….LOL!!

Gregg, Tome cruise isn’t that popular in a lot of areas….maybe that’s why his divorce WILL sell. I’ll be promoting the issue as heavily as I can.

Yep, Gympie must be in North QLD. 1 hour 45 minutes north of Brisbane and no Woman’s Day today….

Gregg, I received an email Monday afternoon advising the WD would be coming out Wed to Metro areas. The email asks that both covers be displayed. Guess that makes sense – you know, just in case Tom DOES kill sales.

Warrick, do you suppose this makes us officially Far North QLD and if so should we start sending tops only back……?????

ACP wanted the Tom covers placed to the front but my staff placed them side by side. We’ll stick to this to let customers know they have a choice and because it will be interesting to see which cover sells better.
