We, like many Victorian newsagent,s have been handling the giveaway with the Kid’s Mini Book Collection with the Herald Sun this weekend. The bag together with the book make for a nice premium gift.
From what I’m told though, most people buying the newspaper did not know about the promotion. Oops. It’s a pity as this is the type of promotion that pitches the newspaper in a good light.
It was certainly promoted in the previous weeks Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th editions, as I had customers wanting to buy them on Monday 15th, ie 5 days before the promotion began.
I had to get the issue from the returns pile to point out the “starts Saturday 20th” line to them.
We also have about 25 full set putaway orders so far, which is actually more than we had after one day on the Harry Potter promotion, which was probably the most popular of the Herald Sun promotions to date.
Maybe we just watch more TV in our area…
