NSW Lotteries outage yesterday frustrates newsagents

Plenty of NSW / ACT newsagents have complained about downtime yesterday due to an upgrade to IT infrastructure taking much longer than expected. As one newsagent noted: communication was poor as newsagents had to chase updates rather than NSW Lotteries keeping them informed.

Lotteries out of stock of all gift envelopes except birthday. Distributed a small supply of Xmas envelopes last week and that’s it! We keep plenty stock on hand but did not expect supplies to run out at busiest time of year.

System out again. Powerball changes were a shamble. Some of the material was wrong ( and they knew it ) before it left the warehouse. They put in a correction letter with the posters etc. The correction letter was wrong. Thursday afternoon we get told to destroy most of the point of sale as it is wrong. Wonderful AGAIN

Same here, shauns … very frustrating and time consuming morning but discovered that if you select WC button then scan it works ok.

its all up and running now but i tried calling earlier and was on hold for 10 min and gavce up . 10 min is way to long when all they have to do is send a message on the machine

BTW, call centre weren’t aware of the WC card problem when i called at 6am, but they were aware of other problems (not clarified) … but there is no notification on the retailer website of known problems yet.

D’not know how others feel but after speaking to a couple of other agents it seems since Tatts took over the running of NSW Lotteries it is turning into a absolute mess.

shauns, i got thru after 15 mins (managed to process most of my mags in that time), but am still having issues with some cards. And you’re right, just memo the network. That’s easy, right? :/

Gregg, In Qld, I haven’t noticed much difference in the running, but over the last 9 years, there’s been a lot of change to roll with. The biggest issue is – and always has been – software/game changes inevitably mean system problems. Every time.

    Wendy,

In NSW it has been a shambles. There is a clear impression, that they don’t know what they are doing.

Wendy, there have been a few issues.
System problems is just one of them.
Toll must love Tatts as we see the courier several times a week (4 times last week) dropping point of sale, scratch its etc. Why are Tatts spending so much on couriers when it was always 1 delivery a week and worked well. The money they would save could be added to our commissions.
The amount of POS we recieve that do not fir our display units is unbelievable and once again a total waste of money, yet Tatts apparantly no all fixture sizes at each agent. I could go on but run out of time.

Manuals for new computers badly written.
Unable to activate scratchie books when new system started.
They found a way to activate scratchie books and then changed the procedure without telling agents.
Suggested scratchie orders that were so wrong, it was incredible. System suggested $800.00 of scratchies and I needed $3000.00.
    Scratchie orders disappeared off system
Mags are now here, so that will do for now.

Yes not even in the same ball park as NSW Lotteries were.
Tatts can not even track Scratch it sales or dont want to.

I asked my NSW Lotteries rep for a new pricelist that displays all products with their new prices. Answer- there isnt one yet.

It seems from where I am that there is a lack of leadership and desire all the way through NSW Lotteries to actually build up the retail network through a positive and well communicated relationship.

    Nothing like good planning.

And obviously the message system has gone too because there is no communication to let us know what is happening. We better hope in QLD that April 8th is much better organised when they change our terminals.

Gregg dont speak too soon…the stupid backhanded way they work is they will make us do a complete new $100 k refit to fit those posters rather than changing the posters
