What do newsagents think about the Fairfax price increases?

The Fairfax announcement yesterday of 10% to 12% cover price price increases for its capital city mastheads is in line with how the company has been approaching cover prices in recent years.

Unless I am missing something in the announcement, the newsagent revenue increase is under 9%, leaving newsagents worse off in real terms compared to the publisher.

Looks like they clawed back another 0.5 to 0.7% of cover price margin this time around. Was there an announcement around distribution fee increases last month?

Fairfax think there’s a race to see who can kill print first. They are odds on favourite!

Yes 9% is correct but they’ve been doing this to us since they changed to a service fee.

No effect jn SA as both titles effectively withdrawn from circulation. Understand Fairfax still pondering how and when to do same Age.
