The American Mall Act

Andrew Yang is running for the nomination of the Democratic Party for the upcoming US presidential election. He is not a politician. He has a business and not for profit background. One of his policies is interesting as it flows from challenges being experienced in retail in the US. He calls the policy The American Mall Act. I am sharing this here as there may be some interested in this topic.

Meanwhile Australia continues to open identikit malls anchored by Coles/Woolies and Target/Kmart plus an Aldi with the usual smattering of chain shops and franchise food.

Walmart has probably done far more to kill off US malls than Amazon.

Interesting the Govt funding idea for communities but the repurposing is not that new.
There has been a company around for a several years now in America that buys up malls and converts them into apartments. The interesting thing is that they are one and two bedrooms and have no kitchens as the food hall is converted into restaurants.
They are designed for the busy professional with no kids.
