One good thing about such a concept would be that we could stop doing News’s QA for them on a Sunday!

So sick of checking for their TV guides in the Sunday Mail. Too many either have none, or two in a copy.
Maybe we could bill them the handling fees.

    Yes, that, too.
It’s not like we get paid to open each paper to check and muck around with putting in/taking out!
Then abuse on top of it if we don’t…

    same here in our shop,

there’s a regular who keep telling us she’s buying it only for TVguide. as if we would give it to her for free as she doesn’t read other parts of the newspaper!!!

Another annoying stuff is when people come in later to say there’s no tv guide in their paper this morning don’t know whether it’s for real or they r trying to score a free one. Also they say it as if we had purposely nicked their copy. So we had to give them one and then hope we don’t sell out later.

Same thing with the Form now that it’s separate from Friday’s SMH. There was this well-dressed man who had the cheek to tell me on 2 occasions that he expects to be given the Form for free since he’s buying the Telegraph from us and nowhere else.He then went on to say other newsagents give it to him for free too!!!

On his third visit, I say I was charging him and he wasn’t happy saying that I’ll still have leftovers anyway. I told him regardless of leftovers, he’s robbing me of my entitled income bcos other people who wants the Form paid for it. Why should I treat him differently? Anyway he left without buying the Tele, good riddance I say, am sure he goes to another newsagent to try his luck…. Needless to say I have not seen him again…

I had a situation like that.

A woman came in on a Monday, and was quite rude pushing in front of other customers to demand her TV guide.

That brought out the spoonman in me and with a captive audience I had to perform!

I asked her what time she bought it because I couldn’t recall seeing her. She said eight o’clock.

I said I can’t find it on the computer system does she have the receipt? She said she had it but it was at home.

I asked her did she have the paper with her and she said yes in the car. She raced to her car parked in the disabled zone and raced back past all my regular customers.

With a smartarse voice she demanded it this time, saying “See I bought it”.

With my customers already laughing I said “Sorry we were closed on Sunday’s ya goose!”
