Get to Melbourne Gift Fair

Newsagents in Victoria looking for new revenue opportunities ought to get to the Gift Fair which starts tomorrow morning and runs for four days.  You’ll see plenty of suppliers and products worthy of consideration.  More than 300 suppliers are exhibiting.

I know of newsagents who went to their first gift fair and within months completely refreshed their business.

    Hi Mark,

    Must admit we came down from QLD and were dissapointed. Having been to previous fares we found little new and could not find the ‘special’ item that will sell.

    We went into gifts last year an transformed or business share taking gift sales from $6K to over $80K in the 12 months. This year we are hoping to do well over a $100K havig learnt from some early mistakes.

    The move was the best we ever made. And we have no doubts that over the next 2 – 3 years our gift sales will outstrip magazine sales and at a far better margin.

    I have been to the trade show today and four at least six suppliers with items of interest. While most do not feel like newsagency lines, I am sure they could work.

    Hi Mark,

    Last year we found that ‘special’ thing that took off.. It was ceramic lizards and ghecos from Malmar… We would have conservaivly sold 300 – 400 during the year all at a great margin… We originally thought they would be outside our customer price point but they worked…

    This year, we were dissapointed in that we could not find another special thing… we still managed to spend $5K – $10K on new stuff and through a few new suppliers…
