I was interested to read the news that two off the three new Directors on the Fairfax board have Australia Post Board experience. I am cynical when it comes to public company boards. I see them as clubs where past positions are often leveraged to develop ties between businesses.
So when can we expect to see Fairfax magazines and newspapers in Australia Post outlets? This is not a serious question as I understand the considerable hurdles to this. The more important question for me is about the distribution side of things. Australia Post is a logistics business. Newspaper publishers need efficient logistics operations to deliver their product.
I am surprised other newsagents have not commented about this.
