Chasing growth in kids magazines

mags-spiderkids.JPGWe are promoting a selection of kids magazines with the latest issue of the Bugs and Insects partwork. We are still seeing good traffic for Bugs so it made sense to me to try and drive impulse purchases of these other titles on the back of the Bugs traffic. I appreciate that sales of kids titles are dropping, this does not mean that we should not promote them. Hopefully, our tactical placement generates for us a bit of extra business.

I do not sell hardley any of the kids tittles from mag companys , i do sell a lot other kids books with a higher margin from other suppliers so i push these a lot harder than the magazines companys .

We have just moved our kids section off the normal mag shelves and now have it as a stand alone section at the fron of the store. we have incorporated stickers, novelty pens, toys, lucky dips and partworks to the section and we have definitely seen an increase in sales. It is now a destination in our store and kids run straight there.

Abw or heron , I always have a constant range of kids books from reading to dot to dot books the range is huge . I order what I want when I want it , the more we can do that the better off we are . If I sell 2 or 3 kzone and they send me 6or 7 ,they are not worth having . Just my experience.
