Promoting Cooper, the interactive bear

I am thrilled with the display created by the team at my Knox store to promote the large Cooper plush bear from Hallmark.  Using a swing to hang Cooper above the display is genius.  It makes the display more noticeable from across the mall and therefore gets more shoppers looking at our Valentine’s Day products display.

The display also draws attention to the smaller version of Cooper – the interactive bear who responds as the accompanying book is read.

Thanks to Hallmark TV ads, the interactive plush items like Cooper are understood and a hit. This makes our job easy … all we need to do is ensure that people see that we have the product available.  Hence the prime location, traffic generating, display.

Thanks Mal. The love for these interactive products is very strong. They are connecting us with new shoppers and I like that from a retail perspective.

Are these displays right at the front of your store? Do you have your newspapers right in the front. To me the sales from newspapers are not impulse so should not be given the prime display space yet that is what they get at most newsagents.

Carol, newspapers are just on half way in the store. Sales continue to grow.

I’m confused as to where Hallmark is advertising this on TV? To date I’ve never ever seen a Hallmark TV ad in any shape or form. It does make it a little harder to sell Cooper if I have to explain how it works all the time. Having the buzz from a TV ad would help enormously! Am I missing something or have they not advertised in WA?

Vicki, you could not possibly have missed Jingles the Dog running up to Christmas. A huge hit once the TV campaign began.
Cooper is the follow up product.

Vicki, not sure about the WA TV campaign. It was certainly in high rotation in the east. The best way to show it off is to get out on the shop floor and do it on busy days. It sells easily.

Sorry guys, didn’t see either. Maybe they were on pay tv?
    Mark,
I agree that they sell well, just a bit annoyed that we never seem to get the same advertising support in the west. Just saw the new one today, the rabbit, very cute and will do well as an Easter gift.
