Scratchies back in town

intralot.JPGThe drought is over! Scratchies are back in town – instant scratch tickets that is. We received Intralot scratch tickets yesterday, put them out and achieved good sales – including in two outlets which had never sold this category of product before.

Most customers don’t care about the brand, they care about the game or the price of the dream or entertainment they are buying – many yesterday would not know they were among the first to buy Intralot product.

Instant scratch tickets are an important part of the product mix and having them available again after a two week absence reminds us of this. A bonus is that Intralot are flexible about location.

There is a subtle marketing lesson here and that is that after all these years, Tatts only survived because nobody bothered to take them on.

Marketing is a game of perceptions, not products. All Intralot have to do is give people the dream and they are on their way to continued success.

Speaking of flexible with locations, i was wondering if anyone was “cheeky” enough to try the new scratchies in the scratchie bays that WE paid for and own ,they were not provided, by Tatts nor do tatts own them…i sent a letter to the accc requesting a comment on tatts’ ability to try and commercially bully us into not putting our suppliers stock in our fixtures in our stores and a response about the restraint of trade implications for them in doing so….funny how you see a small allowable % of John sands cards in a hallmark fixture and vice versa or pepsi in a coke fridge..etc etc .tatts can not possibly make a legally viable arguement or hide behind their dedicated area nonsense much longer!

Scratchies are back in town yes but Intralot’s less than satisfactory customer service means I am sitting here with an Introlot terminal in a box in the corner of my store. After being told with in the first couple of days we would be one of the first 50 trial stores here we are still waiting. We tried to advertise and promote Intralot as best as we can after being told we WILL be live by the first I have had numerous talks on the phone trying to find out what is going on. I have been told that the installations are being done by a subcontractor and Intralot have no clue when they will arrive, that it will be installed before the first, that our store was down for the weekend installation (28th and 29th), on the Sunday afternoon there was nothing about our installation being done on the weekend was not on their records and they don’t have a list of which stores are to be installed until that day, Monday they ended up saying if we are in the area we will install it…if not I guess that’s just our bad luck…

Yesterday after spending 9am til around 1pm trying to get in contact with them the result was the lady I spoke to once again could not help me (what a surprise) and I asked to speak to someone that could help me, she then told me that they are not allowed to pass me onto anyone higher but they will pass on my matter and they will call me back later that day.

I sit here still waiting for that call…

I had a high hope for Intralot but in my eyes I have not seen a company that wants to run a business correctly and help out the people that are going to help them the most…US…but rather being quite happy to make their millions no matter how they go about it.

I just hope I can get my terminal installed by the end of this week like I have been told but after two weeks of broken promises I highly doubt that and will continue to push customers away by the hour because I have no other choice…

Being the first day I had to try out the new games on our machine, especially the Keno. I wagered $5 loose change on a 10-spot….imagine my surprise when I found myself being charged $5.50
I think we could receive a few complaints about the way intralot has set-up this side of the game…if I’m staking $x on the game, then I should only be outlaying $x, NOT $x+commission…
    Any thoughts?

I do not like the new scratchies or any other of the intralot products. They are difficult to understand and the prize payouts are pathetic. even checking your ticket takes forever, I will be putting my money into more tattersalls games instead and bypassing intralot completely.

They do it in NSW from what I understand. Buy a $1 scratchie and pay 10 cents on top of that (commission).

    So it’s a $1.10 scratchie in essence.

I don’t like it. Qld’s Golden Casket have the commission in the price – so a $1 scrathie costs $1. I think it’s better for the consumer having it like that.

It’s easier to market and really, the customer doesn’t need to know how much we make out of them.

I am just crious as too how many people realise that the commission is on top of the price.I have seen alot sell the ticket for just the price of it…Lack of communication on many fronts there and I hope they pick it up soon.

In NSW the $1 scratchies do go for $1.10 – this is annoying when we have to explain it to out of state visitors, but not that much of an issue otherwise – all of the locals are used to it. I guess this pricing scheme also has some benefit so far as it nudges customers towards buying higher value scratchies instead so they don’t have to bother with the loose change.

Talking about scratchies…. we had a customer in this afternoon to collect her $100.00 win in scratchies, she was obviously not wearing her glasses ‘cos she won $10,000.00! We had to sit her down and get a glass of water!.
