Gotch engages in premature stress for newsagents

gotchpayNot content with running a flawed magazine supply model, magazine distributor Gordon and Gotch  today emailed newsagents reminding us to pay November accounts by today.  If only the company was as attentive to fairly supplying newsagents.

This email request from Gotch reflects disappointing double-standards. All newsagents want from the company is fair and equitable magazine supply. Gotch, on the other hand, wants on time payment for what is often unfair and inequitable supply.

While one could argue that the money is due today, there is also the consideration of gross oversupply and the other, expensive, challenges of the magazine supply model.

Even better, I had an email from Gotch today saying my payment was overdue, about 10 mins after I’d paid it. The email was sent at 1.55pm eastern states daylight savings time. Way to go Gotch!!

It seems they sent different text to different businesses. Another newsagent received an email (today – December 20) opening with:

We take this opportunity to remind you that your November 2013 account was due on the 20th of December and is now overdue.

Regrettably supplies to your outlet will be suspended unless payment is received promptly.

    Payment was not overdue!

Spot on mark, why do different outlets receive different terms?

My partner is involved with a few stores. Each one is treated differently as far as “payment due” dates. Strangely enough his store which is a distributor (relying on onetime payments from subagents) is suspended if payment is not received before the 20th. Yet the retail only stores are not suspended if payment is not made by this date.

Gotch give me too much too little and don’t fix it but the one thing they get right us demanding money in time.

We’ll be treating Boxing Day as our returns day but I’m not sure whether to aggressively return or to hold more titles beyond 1 month in the hope of increased sales over the holiday period. After a few months of being strict I am leaning towards a more relaxed return policy this month.

LOL..I paid them and have the receipt from Friday the 20th prior to 5pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time yet they sent me the payment not received email too.

They are a bunch of muppets.

Anyone interested in sharing oversupply information next year in the first instance to help prove a constant oversupply not just in isolation and secondly considering a class action vs Gotch and Network ? Might be a great New Years present ! ANF appears to be useless so as Mark has said time and again time to do something about it ourselves.

I strongly recommend you do your returns this weekend, before Christ,as. This is what I have spent the morning doing at my stores. Gone hard.

I am working on returns this afternoon because cut off should be the 30th but I am not confident with all the public holidays but no time to pay bills yet.

Processed Returns this morning with a total greater than past 10 days sales. Went REAL Hard. Model broken, working with what we have, smiling as I’m about to leave!
