Happy Australia Day newsagents!

Today is another of those wasteland days in retail – for those who are open. Shopping centres will be pretty empty as they are every Australia Day. Many newsagents will be working to save the penalty rate cost of labour. It’s a good day for getting to things you have been putting off.

If you are working today and it’s quite, make some changes, move things around, re-set parts of your business so it shakes things up when 2015 really kicks off from tomorrow. Seize today as an opportunity. Change things. Clean up. Have surprises in store not only for your customers but for your employees tomorrow. Have fun!

While I am working today I’m not in the shop. I’m engaged in disruption of a different kind.

Happy Australia day everybody. I hope you all get to burn a snag on the barbie, maybe enjoy a kilo or two of prawns and get to wash them down with numerous cold beers.

What a lucky country we live in.

    Cheers
    Al

Everyone will get to enjoy it accept us poor old newsagents as all our local festivities and awards take place this morning. Some cleaning stocking up and sorting a pile of paper work are on the agenda.

As I didn’t work yesterday I have only just realised (when a customer asked) there are no Daily Telegraph Australia Day hats this year.
    End of another newspaper tradition.

We had a lovely Australia day, the Mayor came by and spent almost half an hour with us discussing council business past and future, then after he had gone off to induct some new Aussies, an advisor to our local MP came by and did the same thing. We were rapt to get some direct input to local and Federal Government.
Well worth being open and we still got home to a lamb roast in the Weber.
