Mother’s Day in the newsagency

As with any of the major seasons, it is a thrill to find new customers. That is what is happening with Mother’s Day, thanks to this display on the lease line in the newsagency:

    How did everyone go today?
    We had another cracking day.
Targeted social media marketing plus changed product focus from traditional to non-traditional products with a smattering of exclusive local products has driven our success.
Our M-day cards were 10 deep with people all day which was fantastic to watch and to follow that up with great service really re-enforces the retail experience my team work so hard on.
The best part was watching people buy their gifts in store as well as their Mothers Day cards.
I hope everyone else had similar experiences.

    Hi Chris,

    Well done……

I hadn’t considered removing half my displays to accommodate crowds 10 deep

It is days like yesterday where being in a centre with no front door as such helps as we had Mother’s Day cards on the lease line and the crowd spilled into the mall and not the shop.

Different world to what we operate in. We did also well but without mall footfall not that well ,,, hopefully a last rush today.

A colleague newsagent put a display of collectible cars out because of the increase in guys shopping. This brilliant move paid off.

Sales were a bit slower this year. Only had them lined up 7 deep.
Overall down 6%, but gifts up 56%.
Interesting stats though, of the 1095 sales the average sale was up 8%, and item value up 30%.
    Reasonably happy with the results.

this is my best ever mother’s day sale ever. I don’t have much cards left by end of today , general gifts were selling well but not ‘love nan’ stuff. we sold mostly high end gift lines like figurines over $80 , jigsaw puzzles over $60 but not cheaper gifts under $20 . Overall my sale is more than 2x of last year. my new shopfit is worth it!
