Fairfax Magazines set for XchangeIT?

I have heard that the Fairfax has purchased NDD’s shares in XchangeIT along with some assets and is working toward implementing XchangeIT support for their portfolio of magazines.  This will take some time to establish as there is considerable IT infrastructure at their end to setup and maintain.  They are also yet to address issues like direct supply to retail newsagents who had direct with NDD accounts.

We do not distribute the Fairfax magazines to subagents, with a couple of exceptions, unless there is a special request.

Most of our larger subagents have direct magazine accounts so do not want them.

We have 2 large subagents for magazines, but they return any crap straight back so it is not worth sending it to them.

Any smaller subagents will never sell them.

As we are distribution only, it is just an added cost and burden to us.

Without edi files for Fairfax distributed titles, it is too time consuming and costly to distribute any of their titles to subagents. In fact, it is currently quite a chore to locate returns due (no issue titles or codes are provided on the Connect returns form) and we have begun to cut supplies to avoid the extra work (being careful to retain those titles that do actually sell). I understand it will take time to set up their XChangeIT interface but, by the time they get it done, many of the titles they distribute will have disappeared from our shelves.

    Hi Mark,
After the Christmas/New Years break, my credit (cheque) still non arrivals. Do you know any one I can contact from NDD?
As soon as I was received an email from Michael Smith- NDD Credit Manager on 02/12/2010, I faxed the confirmation of account balance and mailing details by the next day on 03/12/2010. I tried to contact NDD by phone after New Year, but no one answered. Unfortunately I still have not received any credit after.

Mark, have you heard anymore on this? I’m tired of ringing The Age to query a return only to find out we never received it and then they have the gall to ask why we didn’t report it missing!! Today I had to ring and ask what BUS ADVERT was (something to do with selling buses I wondered)only to find out it’s Coast to Coast Business Advertiser. Turns out we didn’t get it way back on 26/11/2010 but of course we weren’t expecting it. Now they get annoyed with us for telling them it didn’t turn up!!
I emailed VANA for some advice to no avail.
