Retailers keen for OzLotto changes

The SA Government recently gazetted changes to the state’s Lotteries Act and through that offered.May 11, 2022 as the date from which changes to OzLotto will apply.

7 numbers from 47 are drawn and three supps.

The changes are expected to reinvigorate interest in OZLotto through an increase the jackpot opportunity, which plenty of retailers love.

For retailers reliant of lottery products, the changes are good news.

if first prize not won put some money to all prize to all lower games in equal amounts
opportunity to all lower prize winners you will get more to play if last prize is than under $20
    it’s not rocket science

As if it is not hard enough already to win a prize on OzLotto… this is going to make it even harder. They did a similar thing with Set for Life almost 2 years ago, and the odds for winning, even a small prize was drastically reduced. It will be the same for this change to OzLotto. It is not an incentive to me, but more like a disincentive. By increasing the field from 45 numbers to 47, will only make it harder to win anything.

Yeah I agree completely. It was great when powerball was only 5 numbers. Oz lotto used to be 6 numbers. They just seem to be making everything harder and more expensive. Thinking about giving it all away. I’ve had the same numbers for years and then have to change them when the idiots who seem to want more money decide it’s better for everyone to have more numbers and recon it’s so more people can win. I never win anything anymore!!!

They don’t care about the punters, it’s all about the retailers getting more business when the jackpots climb to $60, $90, $120 million, etc. Those of us who actually play, they don’t care about. It’s keeping the newsagent retailers sweet, that’s all they’re interested in.

I’ll put in my last Oz Lotto entry the week before the change, and then never play again. Stick that up right up ya retailer focus-groups, Oz Lotto.

A similar thing happened to Saturday Lotto 10Oct20, Powerball prior to that and Set for Life Since. Saturday went from $4m to $6.5m. and has since dropped to $5.4m. Players are leaving in droves because the idea being, the minor prizes will be so low you have to top up your account. Victorians spend $11.5m a week just on Lotto ONLY (doesn’t include scrathies or lottery) The government gets $73.4% but only if we are gullible enough to play. My prediction is it will go downhill like the others once social media get a grasp,

How ridiculous to go to 47 numbers
You will turn customers away. When you went from 40 to 45 on a Wednesday I stopped playing when you changed powerball I stopped playing then you changed Saturday lotto and effected a price increase again I stopped playing. How about letting it jackpot to 10 million thereafter by 2 million per week and put the extra money back into the lower divisions this should increase sales. Most of us know winning 1st division is a dream now you want to make that dream harder . Ridiculous! You are no different to Crown casino whe they changed the rules on Blackjack the dealer gets a stand-off on 22 that is a bust for me! Or roulette now has double 00 . Come on! You are only going to alienate your loyal customers and what about the customers who have always played the same numbers. Think of the customers not the retailer because the customer is already looking after the retailer. If the retailer isn’t happy then they should get out. Please don’t make the dream harder!

All of the comments to date have made perfectly good sense. Take note and do something about it.
I used to play pick 5 on Saturday night and if and when I scored one and two supps I could expect around $600.
Now I get absolutely nothing for the same result. That’s a hell of a difference!!!!! And The Lott reckons that is what
the punters have been screaming for……more prizes more often……what a joke!! The new payout for 3 numbers is
barely enough to buy a pint if you are lucky enough to get 3 numbers. All designed for us to simply re-invest.
For God’s sake leave well enough alone as your loyal punters have been with you, living in hope, for an eternity
and will remain so until it all gets too hard or seems an impossible dream.
Never enough for you people hell bent on making that extra dollar out of us cash cows.
Like most of us, I live in hope and anticipation of one day having my numbers prove a winner. Please be satisfied
with what you have as it is a lot more than most of us will ever likely have.

Please can someone tell us where the tax collected goes for OZ Lotto ?
Does this go to the state we play in or only to one state. If all tax goes to Victoria and Dan Andrews government i will not be playing in future.

Denzil, there are several answers, retailers pay tax on profit, and the pay GST. Lottery companies pay tax on profit. The lottery companies pay a licence fee to state and territory governments to allow them to sell lottery tickets, which is a form of tax. But … you really are better off asking them than someone who does not sell lottery tickets.
