Promoting Marie Claire and the free Seafolly dress

We are promoting the latest issue of Marie Claire magazine with a terrific in-location display.  We have folded the package out so that shoppers can see the value of what is on offer with the magazine.

Having tracked results for the last year, there is no doubt that in-location promotion of women’s interests titles works better than aisle end or other out of location feature displays.

I expect that we will sell out of this issue of Marie Claire.

We recently freshened up the outside of our (strip) newsagency with a paint job and new colours. We also added in 3 ‘clouds’ to the outside. The ‘clouds’ are cut out as clouds and have a high gloss enamel on them so we can use liquid chalk on them. Our very first ‘advertisement’ on a cloud was the Marie Claire Beach Folly dress valued at $69 – sold out within 2 days (no extra stock available). We will be monitoring future success of ‘advertisements’ placed on the clouds.

I had a customer who purchased this magazine at a petrol station. She came into my store and asked to swap her copy (with the blue striped dress) with a red striped copy we had.

Part of me says ‘no, you didn’t buy it from here’. The other part says, ‘why don’t you come here and buy from us for all future mags?’
