Promoting New idea and free Ribena

fhn_ni_oct2609.JPGWe are promoting New Idea at the counter this week.  The free Ribena drink with every copy is a compelling offer and warrants this high value space. I like that the Ribena is provided separate to New Idea – this keeps the magazine in-tact and helps us create a better display.  I’d expect this promotion to work well for New Idea.

We’d easily sell that amount in the first morning and still no freebies.

If nobody will tell you, Shaun, could I suggest you contact the distributors?
Funny that nobody who gets them is telling. What’s that about?

    We got the Ribena.

If they came from Network, then I would have suggested that it is because we are in the Emerald Club.

However, as they came from Gotch, I don’t know why we got them and others didn’t.

We sell about 100-120 per week, both through our shop and also our territory, if that helps.

It’s based on volume which makes sense.

If you think you can drive sales, make contact with Pacific. They are open to contact from newsagents who want to grow their business.

It doesn’t make sense to me Mark.

If I owned New Idea tomorrow I’d be puttting the bonuses everywhere : Servo’s, Newsagents, Supermarkets, Milkbars – the lot. Competing with the other weeklys and hopefully, due to the bonuses increasing sales = Profit.

Why oil the silent wheel? Not my business to know, but that’s how I’d roll if I was a publisher – To make more profit then now.

Anyone see the bagged “Exclusive to Coles” version of That’s Life?

Michael, often the advertiser will set the volume of freebies and not the publisher.

Or did That’s Life also do a freebie version for other stores, too?

Anon i don’t give 2 hoots about the ribena.. basically all i wanted to know was what to set a goal to ,at the moment i sell about 85-100 so now i know a figure of about 120 will put me into another catagory .Freebies are always a plus customers will always look at a product that they do not normally buy just to get that freebie
