Promoting the 10th anniversary issue of donna hay magazine

We have been promoting the 10th anniversary issue of donna hay magazine with this simple yet visually effective aisle end display facing shoppers as they enter the newsagency and head toward our magazine department.

I love the white cover of this issue, its stands out beautifully against the colour of all other magazines in a typical newsagency magazine department.

In addition to the aisle end display we have this issue of donna hay in with our food titles.  when the aide end display comes down we will give the issue support somewhere else in addition to the usual location.  Being the anniversary issue warrants more than usual support from newsagents.

    We displayed Donna Hay on our ‘Gold Display Area’ with balloons and happy 10th birthday sign and party hats. We baked the chocolate brownies from the book and gave them to our customers on the week-end. We also displayed the Donna Hay collector’s edition at our front counter. We also gave away a sample bag with each sale. Sales have increased by over 300%, with this issue, compared to the last six months. Gotch sent us 1 poster. I rang G&G customer service the same day Donna Hay came out (and ordered extras) because I thought this was a great opportunity for us and asked for more POS but was told they had nothing left.

    Inside these mags in a big list of phone numbers and contacts for all the magazine peeps – the drummer, the publicity guy, the lead guitarist etc etc – I always go straight for the jugular in these cases, don’t bother with the wharfies (GG AND Network) ……………. I was thrilled to sell 3 x usual of the Nirvana Rolling Stone, it’s no big deal but the impact on my tiny little music area stand in the far corner will last six months I reckon with the interest, the fact that we had stock when someone else didn’t etc etc.
    This arvo a young couple cruised into my store talking loudly – they purchased a Coke each after 15 minutes. But they travelled down both sides of the aisle
    saying out loud, oh cool, look how many mags they have here, gee this shop beats our newsagent hands down, look at the range, they have so much, I want this I want that…………………..
    These are the customers I want – they tell their peers, they browse, they might get a hobby one day and develop an interest …….. there’s ALWAYS HOPE lol
