Network Services has announced to newsagents details of three partworks launches with each being exclusively distributed in the newsagency channel. Click here for the flyer.
The big launch is Cake Decorating with a large marketing budget for in-store and TV promotion. I was concerned that Cake decorating may be distributed to supermarkets. Thankfully, this is not the case.
I like partworks – for the traffic and the easy upsell. I love that these titles are exclusive to our channel.
Part works are great BUt i am yet to see one that we do not get stuffed around on . I must agree they do generate great sales but this is generally for the first 2 issues only and after that it can end up costing you with back orders that come to late and the customer then looses interest with it .
The problem I always have is the subscription only add-ons for part works that are not available to us. This effectively discriminates against the PW customer and the Newsagent. One of my customers has cancelled a new PW.
Does not want a sub and feels the Publisher is a rip off artist.
I love them.
We take subscriptions out. It is worth the hassle to keep them coming back for the duration. Once many of these customers have purchased the first three issues you pretty much have them coming into your shop for at least a year, sometimes two.
In our store in the past f/year 8 of our top 20 selling titles (by $$) were partworks.
PARTWORKS ARE HOLDING UP OUR MAGAZINE CATEGORY. Those who don’t make the effort on the first three issues are just dumb.

Partworks work for us, just consider what 5/6 customers building the DB5 are worth over the series. Add in the Fighter Plane Collection. Agatha Christie, Marvel Heroes….who can afford NOT to do them.

This timw it comes out again i recieve 24 .Now when it comes time to return these things i will fit say 8 in a box at a cost price of about $17-$18 dollars and it will cost me in freight $18 to send back .Now this is what pi^%es me off about this whole magazine distibution system . i PAY GOOD HARD EARNED MONEY to system (exchangit) to give these distributors the info but yet they are not using it at all
