Tatts launches its new brand for lotteries

IMG_0369Tatts yesterday launched The Lott, a new ‘unified brand’ brand for their various lotteries brand. This is an interesting move by the company, one to watch, especially for retailers being required to invest considerably in shop fits that support their local Tatts brand.

The only reason to launch a new brand is because you have a commercial purpose in mind. From what I understand, for Tatts they wanted a brand through which to promote nationally. Ad News has background on the move.

Have a look at one of the flyers when you get a chance, their intentions are quiet obvious .The thing I cant cop and neither should anybody else ,is having to advertise for our own demise.
Their POS pack should have had a letter with it reading .Our retail outlets are going to die a slow painful death , but in the meantime, heres a shovel if you wouldnt mind digging the hole .Thankyou for your co-operation.

I attended a Tatts training evening on improving sales. I naively thought I might get opportunity to question how push for on line gels with my sales growth.

Evening turned out to be a screening of some guru espousing basic sales and upselling techniques. No mention of online, no Tatts management to talk directly with.

Tatts audits have sub contracted out. The aim is clear. No discussion, do as we say, expect a fine if you step out of line.

When we saw the new branding at one of Tatts road shows all in the room where completly underwelmed by the new name.
All i thought was i am now hungry and a hamburburger with the lott sounded ideal.

The branding and logo have clearly been designed specifically for presentation on digital media. As a logo on a shop front of in a store, its a mess.

The financial markets love a “digital” theme in company strategy, and so Tatts the public company duly obliges. Interestingly there seems to be more sites now promoting sales of US and European lotteries, so if Im an online lotteries shopper Im heading for the big offshore bickies before I look at the slim ickins on offer from “the Lott”.

Meanwhile Apple pumps millions into creating the single best performing bricks and mortar retail format in the world.

    Go Figure???

Yep, It is a dreadful name to rebrand to. It’s only taken two days and customers are already commenting on what on earth they were thinking to change it to that.
