    Mark,

A nice upbeat message. We all hope 2018 will be better, but realism has to be driven home to those newsagents who have not been transforming.

Start now and do it at twice at the pace of your competitors. Traditional newsagents are way behind the market, dipping your toes in change is no longer an option.

My market observation is that change has so far been demand driven. The lack of customers for traditional products has been the driving force behind transforming newsagents seeking new opportunities.

In 2018 I can foresee industry structural changes coming to the for. Publishers withdrawing from whole regions, suppliers merging, key support organisations reaching the precipice and deciding enough is enough.

As you rightly say, 2018 is a year of opportunity. But less will survive it.

Colin, What we each achieve from 2018 is up to us. This year, more than any in the past, the channel does not exist. It is up to us individually and the commercial groups to which we belong.

Justin, unless something is done about the distribution model in Australia and the UK, more newsagents will quit magazines. I fear publishers will get this message too late.
