Good Food launches

frank_gf.JPGThe Australian edition of BBC Good Food was launched today. The marketing collateral supporting the launch is excellent.  It is a good publication, keenly priced and features Gordon Ramsay so it’s bound to do well. I have high expectations that Good Food will shake up the food category as Top Gear has the motoring category. Like with Top Gear, we are chasing more product so we can do the launch justice and run an aggressive co-location strategy and not just at the aisle end.

Shaun, I’m surprised they didn’t send you any stock. My surprise is in the fact that we have, historically, done so low turnover in this category, yet we received 10 copies!!
Of course, as a Connections members, we were provided with promotional material (like Mark), including balloons, aprons, posters, etc, and we are supporting it whole-heartedly, just as we have with all new launches.
Let’s hope your stock turns up soon, Shaun.

    Mark, the display looks great.
I only wish my stores were able to take advantage of the great sales that these product launches tend to generate with similar support. I am currently managing two fairly new newsagency accounts with NDC and the stores have not received an initial allocation of any of ACP’s new mags at time of launch (Top Gear, Grazia, Good Food, partworks, etc).
Upon contacting NDC, we are unable to get a hold of any stock until the allocation change takes place in the system (which they inform me can take up to a week or two). As you would well know the intial hype and opportunity for sales is generally gone by this time… let alone should I actually attempt to access ACP Connections marketing support due to a charming ‘6 month trial period’ imposed by ACP.
As a newsagent I allocate considerable floorspace to marketing and retailing the ACP products, however I grow ever more frustrated at the apparent ‘take it or leave it’ arrogant attitude that they have adopted…
GG and RDS customer service however impress me more and more each day in comparison…

Steve it is disappointing that the publisher loses the opportunity for being blinded.

Steve, Are you considered to be a “Greenfield” or have you fallen under a sub-agency agreement?

No, I have direct accounts with the distributors…. if it was simply a subagency issue I wouldn’t be blaming the distributor for the lack of product and marketing support…
