Country Collections Diary to be recalled

Further to my blog post about the Country Collections Diary issue, Universal has arranged with Network to issue a recall this week.  This is an excellent outcome.  Hopefully, the cause of the problem will be uncovered.

An excellent outcome would be to just give a credit for the whole amount instantly and not have to send them back at our expense .

Shaun, put your case to network. Since it was supplied in error I’d expect them to find a solution. Let know if they do not help.

We spoke with Network today and asked how these books had been re-circulated to us again. We were told that they had by error put the wrong recall date on them. The new recall date is the one that should have been on the books to start with. Handy that….

Recall date changed to 16/3. Title should never have been distributed. The publisher (who has an awful track record in our channel) is as much to blame as the distributor in this. They both should have recognized this was a stupid decision.

Jeff, I am certain that the publisher had no idea the diary was sent to newsagents last week. Mark

Mark your usually spot on but i’d be prepared to have a wager with you on this one! I’m ex mag industry and try and keep ip with the ongoings through this blog and other material. I’ll tell you from my time with a distributor and a publisher that stock is never put back into the marketplace without the instruction of a publisher be it via a detailed format advice or a simple email instruction.. It may sound like I’m trying to defend distributors , but that is far from the case given all the recent examples of not engaging with us enough. Anyway I guess it is all water under the bridge now. We all agree it shouldn’t have happened and should continue to voice our concerns/opposition.

Jeff, I have dug into this deeply and feel that the information I have been provdied is right. There was supposed to be a resiiue in January as is usually the case for this title but that did not happen or if it did it was limited.

It comes down to whether I believe the publisher. Having spoken with them at length on this issue and previous issues, I trust them on this issue.
