ANF endorses headache tablets?

The Remedies range has been pitched to us by a magazine merchandising company with the line that the products are endorsed by the ANF and VANA.  The endorsement is worthless in my eyes.  These associations should become good associations before they start to branch out into endorsing headache tablets.

The ANF Board cut secret a deal in 2003 with Dial Time, part of Bill Express, for which some newsagents continue to pay today.  Over the five years the ANF made over a million dollars at a cost to member newsagents.

Any commercial deal between the ANF and suppliers, like Remidies, needs to  be subject to complete transparency. Otherwise, newsagents cannot trust that it is in their best interests.  Read what the ANF had to say in National Newsagent magazine about Bill Express in 2003 / 2004.

We tried remedies a few yrs ago but we kept running out of the key lines and could not get any restock for weeks on end, I would not touch them now with a 10 foot pole.

Perhaps they are offering relief from the headaches they cause???

    Just a thought.

I see remedies (and you actually do see them literally) as a convenience store/servo only product. No place in a newsagency IMO with the exception if you do trade longer hours then any other retailer within your strip or shopping centre. Completely useless inside shopping centres because, you know the pharmacy or supermarket can provide a full box of the same products for the same price. Besides, I don’t think people think of a newsagency, or impulse buy things such as condoms or headache tablets just while they’re browsing. :]

Nachoob, I can see where this would work in somee newsagencies. I don’t see any value on an ANF or VANA endorsement. If they are being paid for this it needs to be declared so that newsagents understand why they have endorsed it.

Not only declare why they have endorsed it but what they earn from it and what they intend to do with the funds.

    B – that’s a hoot LOL

Yep, they’d go well in a store like ours. That doesn’t mean we’d even contemplate touchihg them with a bargepole – the principle wins in this instance.

But maybe a certain apparently anonymous contributor could do with a dose or two this week. My shout, petal.

We had them when we took over but it didn’t sell at all (too close to a Supermarket)

Saw the rep once, was suppose to come back to re-stock one line – that was a year ago and I hope they don’t come because I’ve piffed the stand out and replaced that area with kids trading cards which are growing in sales consistently.

We stocked them about couple of years ago, thinking they might work, but since then we had exchanged expired stock for just panadol when the rep dropped by only once.

By now we have some other old stock sitting in the drawer still waiting….
So that’s it for the trial run, we are not restocking the little stand.
