Promoting the Baked & Delicious partwork

bakedand.JPGWe are promoting Baked & Delicious, the new partwork at the front of each of my newsagencies with displays which attract shoppers from the mall as well as shoppers who are inside the store.  This two step approach has worked well for us before with popular partworks.

First day sales were strong.  Once the TV campaign has hit its stride (during MasterChef)I am sure sales will spike.  This is a good quality part series hitting the market at the right time.

The key with a low cost title like this is to ensure that you have the right add-on products on offer nearby and between the displays and the counter to drive basket-building business, to offer a putaway order form and to promote it at the counter as the basket builder.

We have some customers purchasing two copies of part 1 – for extra cup cake moulds.

Here is the Melbourne TVC schedule for today (courtesy of Gordon and Gotch):

7TWO SD Melbourne Home and Away Tuesday 09:00-09:30 15 Y 1
GTV-9 Melbourne Kerri-Anne Tuesday 09:00-09:30 15 Y 1

GEM Melbourne The Closer Tuesday 21:30-22:30 30 Y 1

The first 30 second MasterChef spot is in Thursday.

In our case we are giving food titles a push.  It makes sense given that the TVC will generate new traffic from people interested in food titles.

Be sure to check out the amazing display done by newsXpress Ballarat.

No ads seen and no copies sold – is it a dud?

Our merchandiser just came by, but I had set up our bin yesterday. Sold three out of 70 so far (shopping strip, not shopping centre – where i think it will do better)Ongoing prices of $15.95 will be a problem for my customers after a few weeks judging by experience. So not altogether a brilliant winner – YET….
Merchandiser took away our NI bin, saying it is diabolical, and she is getting her hubby to make up her allocation tonight and will bring our bin back tomorrow !

We’ll sell out of the 30 we received by tomorrow morning so I might actually have to order some more.

One of my staff has been selling them quite successfully in pairs by pointing out to the customers that you really need at least 12 cup cake cases for baking and so most purchasers today have been taking two copies !

    Paul,

Same here. Have seem many customers buying 2. We’ve sold more than half our allocation when i checked midday on Tuesday. Unfortunatly, I can’t see that they are available for re-order on the Gotch website. I’m guessing we’re going to need at least double our original allocation!

We’ve got 2 displays. One as you enter the store (6 full faced copies) and a smaller display (4 full faced copies) next to the newspapers. No posters – not even outside.

3 days after onsale and we still have no supply, this is after GG called me to confirm allocation and me calling them to chase up supply on monday to be told we will get it today.
As I thought would happen, this is another balls up for partworks for our customers and us.
Good luck to those that got them I hope they sell well as we will not be chasing them again.

The Gotch distribution model calls for a second delivery, I think after a couple of weeks. I’d call them direct and askto speak to an allocations manager.
