Messy magazine stand

Check out one of the magazine displays at a Newslink store at an airport yesterday. Two magazines, Woman’s Day and OK! on the top row are upside down While NW has an insert left in front of the cover. While one could argue that this was unusual I see this regularly at airport outlets and supermarkets. It would not take much to ensure that all stock is placed right side up from the outset and to regularly check the stand so that all titles look good.

These corporate outlets appear to not care as much about how magazines are presented as we do in newsagencies. Their shops are usually staffed to have just enough to run the counter let alone take care of the shop floor through the trading day. If I was ACP I’d not be happy about how my products look in the photo.

Erm, ‘Buy any 3 for $10’??
Guess for that price, it doesn’t matter whether the mags are upside down, back to front or sideways. I see it all the time at the supermarkets, too.

Mark just wondering if you asked permission before taking this photo?

If not then why not? You can’t expect one thing in your stores and then not return the same courtesy.

Mary, I didn’t take the photo. I don’t know if permission was asked. That said, this is very different to a supplier entering a shop and taking photos without permission. This photo was taken from outside the shop, from a public place.

Maybe newslink just have grubby customers sometimes like the rest of us?

We tidy up our mags and cards 3-4 times per day and still people find a way to make a mess and then move on, because most are not even buying it then they don’t care where they put it back or even if they damage the stock, I also see people read a mag/card and then take a fresh one to buy as if that mag/card is somehow different to the one they just read, again they just throw the first one back wherever they feel like.

Maybe they should have been smacked as kids for not putting away toys where they found them, but you cannot say that anymore as your rights are more important then other peoples.

while we are whingeing??????? How many
magazines are arriving with inserts and
plastic wrapped and the insert and plastic
conceal the NAME OF THE MAGAZINE.
My staff are alerted to this and we shake the magazine around until we can see the
title and the “rubbish” falls to the bottom
but it is a real problem and I see the mags
in SS and other outlets with the title obscured and I wonder what effect that has on the sales of the mag.
    Detrimental I would think????
