Strawberry shortcake part series

strawbshort.JPGWhile I am pleased to see TV promotion for the Strawberry Shortcake part series, I am disappointed that this is not tagged to newsagents as is usually the case for part series advertising. We are actively promoting this product in-store.  Sales would be better if the advertising directed consumer interest to newsagencies.

It is a trend i have seen increasing; whilst one publisher promotes partworks available at newsagents boldly on TV advertising, the other clearly shows their hand is directed towards subscription.
Our sales obviously reflect the advertising campaigns mentioned.
The biggest challenge is still the distributors; having to wait almost 6 parts to have a standing order changed from 3 to 10 (which reflect the customer putaways in our store) still shows the massive holes in our distribution model.
Do you honestly think a customer is going to wait that long to ensure supply? Then there is the issue of back orders…..need i say more.
I like Partworks, we promote heavily instore; we try our hardest to be professional Retailers; the continued lack of support from some of our major distributors shows clearly we are far from priority.
The game is changing for newsagents; the quicker our suppliers start treating us like retailers the easier the transition will be for most.
The sooner newsagents stand up in numbers for what they believe the sooner those same suppliers will rethink their strategies and start to treat us like retailers.
