The May issue of FHM will be the last reports Mumbrella. This not unexpected (due to declining sales) move further thins the men’s shelves.
Maybe we are in an era of more cerebral contact given the challenges for titles with sexy content compared to the success of titles with smart content. I suspect this is the case across all magazines. readers want value in the form of smart content. I think this is a reason for the success of Frankie for example and will probably be the reason for success of Smith Journal as it extends its journey.
Vale FHM, it’s the end of an era.
Women’s mags still sell, so were not that cerebral.
When you say success of frankie mag etc how do these sales stack up against the likes of mags like FHM . i know for me personally i have never had any huge sales of either but FHM i would at least sell say 6 mags and mags like frankie for example i am only selling one an issue .

gees i just cannot seem to sell Frankie , i want to , i don’t think i can get people into it because of the number i receive , receiving 2 copies is just not enough to make the product look any good , as in do a display of some sort . An examply of getting in extra stock to make the mag look good is this month with womens fitness mag i normally sell 1 and get 3 in this month i changed supply to 15 and have sold 8 not big numbers but bigger than what they are . Should i try this with Frankie not sure maybe i should

Frankie is a niche publication, it is not a mass consumer publication. frankie isn’t for every person, and it never will be. It doesn’t work in EVERY newsagent, not every newsagent, customer and suburb/town is the same.
If you are consistently selling one copy, it would be difficult to justify more copies (which looks to be oversupply).

Shaun, We try magazines with low supply on the counter as Magazine of the Week. If you haven’t done so, give Frankie a go in this prime space. Maybe place it there for the first week of each new issue for a few issues.We were selling one per issue originally and while we will never sell 60 like H we are at 10 with capacity to improve on this. As for FHM, we sell 0-1 per issue.
i also struggle to get any traction with Frankie, tried several different locations in store but all to no avail. Mind you i sell truck loads of pig hunting mags, maybe something about my demographic lol

You must be in my area. I have kids as young as 3 or 4 browsing the piggin mags.
I must say that FHM has been a title we sell 5-7 copies consistently. Mind you the entire men’s market has been flat for a year & with what can be found on the internet its no surprise.
We gave Maxim Australia a big push when that came out but have had little success – average issue sell through has been only 2 copies.
How has everyone else found Maxim?
We’ve only sold 8 x maxim since it’s release

Do they still print maxim , have never sold a copy and amazingly it just stopped it self from coming no phone calls or anything ,WOW just how it should happen
