Confused newspaper shoppers

Newspaper shoppers in Melbourne are confused with the similarly looking offers today.

Based on shopper reaction today, that the only way they tell the difference between the two is the format. With The Sunday Age appearing to be a tabloid today – thanks to the AFL grand final wraparound – the obvious different is lost.

The key factor in them looking the same is the identical advertising from Virgin Australia – kudos to them for such blanket coverage.

Too bad the editors at the Sunday Age failed to notice that they had the Herald Sun name prominently displayed on their front page via the MCG advertising.

It was a lot of fun with the Age, Herald-Sun,
Sun-Herald and Tele all lined up on Sunday morning. The Vic/AFL orientated customers loved seeing AFL on the Sun-Herald cover !
Quite a few assumed the Age had turned tabloid, didn’t seem to faze them. With the school holidays, Bathurst next weekend, and the One Direction mags, things will really be buzzing this week.

I’d love to have confused my shoppers. We have been advised by HWT that they have reviewed SA stockists that they have determined that we are no longer a financially viable stockist of their product and that our supply has therefore been stopped…

It’s not about the $’s, I don’t really make money on any interstate papers, but it is about losing customers to a shopping centre just 1.2km down the road.

Perhaps the end to newspapers is sooner than I had planned for…..

We are in Southern NSW and our sales of the Herald Sun went from 20 a day to an average of 2 a week when they went from same day supply to next day supply. I suppose we will be getting the same notification as Dissapointed soon.

Its crazy, I doubt I will be told I am not a viable stocklist as a Specialist Newsagent is 3 minutes walking distance away however, both Newspaper publishers are not leaving any fat regarding Newspapers.

I am not sure why any business wants to not sell their products when their is a market for them.
